Halloween is fast approaching in Huntington Beach, plus a few shout outs.

Upcoming in HB, here are few things:

Oktoberfest is in full swing at Old World.  Get over there Wed-Sunday and party like a good German.  And if you don't make it out there in the next two weekends, make sure to show up on the final day of Oktoberfest on the 27th.  It is also the final day of the Wiener National Dog Races and there will be a doggy dress up and children's costume that day.  Also on that day, one of the village businesses, owner of Bella Musica, will be conducting and performing in a jazz band. Both she and her husband are qualified performers in Carnegie Hall - that will make for some great music.

There are plenty of other events going on this weekend as well as all the days to come, make sure to check out the calendar on www.TheLocalHB.com for tons of info.   Speaking of calendar - is your calendar marked for the monthly networking at SeaCliff Country Club.  Next Tues, the 15, is the RBN luncheon.   Please visit www.rbninfo.com for all the details.

Have you enjoyed a delicious Italian meal lately?  I happen to be particular to Baci Italian Restaurant on Beach (near Garfield)… there food is SO good.  And for a bit of good news, they just lowered the prices on their menu!  No excuses – you should give them a try.  Did you know they have a private banquet room?  It accommodates up to 100 people perfect for reception dinners, small weddings, business or networking meetings, holiday parties, etc.   If you or anyone you know is looking something like that, make sure to contact Angelo, the owner, and tell him I sent you.  He will take good care of you (and he works with your budget!!).  All the contact info is on their site, www.BaciRestaurant.com – and next time you are on facebook, look them up and like that.  Thanks much.    Oh, one more thing about Baci, I happen to know they are looking for a weekend bartender.  Keep your ears open if you know someone.  :-)

Since I am on a recommendation roll, let me do a shout out for Salon Ambiance.  If you are in need a “touch up” to get ready for all the upcoming holidays, these guys are great.  Personally, I see the owner, Sopi.  They are on Warner near Bolsa Chica.  Sopi will take great care of you…  714-846-5900.

Yea, I know this is a long one, but I haven’t sent out an email in a while.  :-)
Halloween stuff:
October 26 – Huntington Harbour Mall.  Bring out the dogs or come to find a furry friend at the “Hauntington” Harbour Halloween Festival.  11am-3pm at the mall there will be dog & cat adoptions, vendors, food, photos, and of course a dog costume contest (and for kids too)!  www.huntingtonharbourdogfestival.com has more info.   If you or someone you know would like to set up a table to show off your wares, hand out samples, etc, you are more than welcome to.  Just let me know ahead of time.  No cost, you just have to bring your own table & chairs and ez-up (if needed).   Pass on the word – it is in support of Waggin’ Trails Rescue Foundation and we want to make this a grand event.

The Children’s Library (in Central Library) is once again doing their annual Halloween Magic Show starring Johnny Ace Palmer - Wednesday, October 23 at 4 PM and 7 PM in the Library Theater. Tickets are $4 each and they are available NOW at the Children’s Desk. Advance ticket purchase is recommended because this popular show sells out every year!  Children may wear their Halloween costumes to the program. Following each show there will be a costume parade. Children will march up the circular ramp, around the adult reference area and end up in the Children’s Department where will be able to pet Johnny Ace’s pet rabbit, Snowball. Moms and dads – don't forget to bring your camera so you won't miss this great photo op!

And of course on the day of Halloween come downtown for the annual Halloween Festival on Main Street and at The Strand (on 5TH Street), 4pm-8pm.  Kids can Trick or Treat with local merchants in downtown H.B. and enjoy free activities. Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Bouncy Houses, Giant Slide, Draco the Dragon, 40 foot Obstacle Course, Face Painting, Costume Contests, Police and Fire Departments with their vehicles include an antique fire truck, Boo Walk of Chills and Thrills on Walnut & Main Street, plus a whole lot more to see.  Don’t have a costume?  Simply Halloween store on 5th and Walnut gives 10% off costumes if you mention the costume contest.
