Need to worry about sharks in Huntington Beach? OC Lifeguards say no.

Recently there have been rumors of great white sharks along the So Cal coast, leaving some beach goers worried. However, Orange County lifeguards said they have no plans to close the beach based the recent report of a great white shark attack here in Huntington Beach.

Earlier this month, Tom Larkin was convinced that a shark bumped and bit his surfboard on the back end while waiting for a wave at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Huntington Beach lifeguards dismiss this and other reports. "Even though great whites have been spotted in the area in years past as far as we know, there's not any evidence there's great whites in our vicinity," said Steve Reuter, marine safety officer, of the Huntington Beach city lifeguards.

The only shark-related incident recently was an injured 3-foot mako shark, which normally stays in deep water, which washed ashore in HB and subsequently lifeguards had to destroy it due to it's condition. Usually dolphins are easily mistaken as sharks by the untrained eye. But afterall, "It's springtime; people are saying 'shark' and they're freaking out," Reuter said.

So just when is that restaurant going to be finished?

Recently, there was a question/answer in the "Ask Us Anything" part of the OC Register, since I had wondered about this topic myself, I thought I'd post it here.

The question was: When will the eyesore on the northwest corner of Warner Ave & Magnolia St. be cleaned up? The eyesore in mention is the old Asian restaurant Doson. It has been vacant for several years now.
Answer they provided: The site of the old Asian restaurant will be transformed into a new Asian restaurant. The building at 8901 Waner Ave in HB that was formerly the Doson Beach restaurant is the future site of the Seven Sushi Lounge, according to property manager Kathy Buchoz of Bridgecreek Realty Investment Corp. The road to the restaurant has been a long one, Buchoz said. the family that owns the business has had some personal setbacks since they bought the building about two years ago and has been plagued with problems with the contractors, she said.
Still, Buchoz said that there has been a lot of work done ion the inside of the building and the exterior will match the adjoining buildings when completed. "A lot of it is cosmetic now," Buchoz said, adding that the restaurant could open in as little as two to three months.

I've been watching this building just sit there for a very long time. It will be a relief to see it finally done, but I won't hold my breath for the 2 to 3 month range!!
